The CAMCrypto30 Index
The CAMCrypto30 index is an open, published, rules-based index of the top 30 crypto currencies (CCs) by market capitalization. The Index is updated automatically, in near-real time (every five minutes) at CAMCrypto30.com/index. A widget is also available to facilitate including the Index on other sites. A mobile app (iPhone and Android) will be available in the near future.
Market capitalization is taken from coinmarketcap.com. If that site is not available for some or all CCs, secondary and tertiary sources will be used. The Index is re-weighted monthly at midnight, UTC, on the last calendar day of each month. The detailed rules (Rules) for calculating CAMCrypto30 each month (called “reconstitution”) are based on the rules for calculating the Russell (e.g., Russell 2000) and FTSE (e.g., FTSE 100) indices, as modified to suit the crypto space. These Rules may be found here.
If any Initial Coin (Asset) Offering (ICO or (IAO) is launched and immediately or eventually reaches the largest 30 CCs in terms of market capitalization and remains at that level, it will be included in the Index at the end of the month during which that level was reached. If any CCs included in the Index cease to trade or otherwise cease to have a determined market capitalization or price, a multiplier will be used to freeze the weight of that CC based on the last available market capitalization and/or price so that any changes in the index until the end of that month will be determined solely by the remaining 29 CCs (or fewer, if more than one CC ceases to trade or have a market capitalization). Detailed actions under other unusual circumstances are explained in the Rules.
